How to Play Copero
From your first steal to your retirement verdict — everything the game is judging, explained in five steps.
Create your player
Pick a name, one of 48 nationalities, a position from centre-back to striker, and a shirt number. Nationality decides where your career starts and which national team you'll fight to play for.
Steal from eight legends
Legends appear one by one. From each, take exactly one attribute into an empty slot: pace, shooting, passing, dribbling, defending, physicality, skill moves or weak foot. Eight legends, eight slots, no takebacks.
Mind your position
Your overall rating weighs attributes by position — shooting means everything to a striker and almost nothing to a centre-back. Steal what your position actually uses, not just the biggest number on the board.
Play the career
You start at a small club in your home country. Sim season by season: perform well and bigger clubs come calling in the transfer window. Stronger leagues are harder to dominate but worth far more to your legacy.
Chase the verdict
At retirement the game weighs your whole career — goals, titles, caps, continental cups, World Cups, Ballon d'Ors — and hands down a verdict from Journeyman to The Phenomenon. Then hit New Career and try a different build.
How to play Copero: create your player in a minute
Learning how to play Copero starts on the creation screen, and it takes less than a minute. You give your player a name and shirt number, then pick a nationality, a preferred foot and a position: striker, winger, midfielder, full-back, centre-back or goalkeeper. There is nothing to download and no account to make, so you can play Copero straight in the browser and begin your career instantly.
Every field you fill in matters more than it looks. The position you choose in Copero decides which attributes will actually help you once the draft begins, and your preferred foot shapes your shooting and crossing. Take these few seconds seriously: in Copero you are planting the identity of the footballer you will follow for fifteen or twenty seasons, not ticking boxes on a throwaway form.
The legends draft: stealing one attribute at a time
The heart of Copero is the draft, and understanding this phase is understanding how to play at all. Eight real football legends appear one at a time, and from each one you steal exactly ONE attribute: pace, shooting, passing, dribbling, defending, physicality, skill moves or weak foot. You cannot take everything; every steal is a trade-off. That is how the Copero draft builds a hybrid card that never existed, one that is entirely yours.
The trick lies in the order and in reading each legend. If a card offers you blistering pace but you already have plenty, you may be better off stealing its passing or dribbling and waiting for physicality from someone else. Classic mode shows the numbers and gives you one blind reroll to gamble; in Purist mode Copero hides the figures and forces you to decide on instinct. That tension between data and gut feeling is what makes playing Copero so moreish.
Choosing by position: not every steal is worth the same
Knowing how to play Copero cleverly means stealing with your position in mind. A centre-forward leans on shooting, on physicality to hold off the defender, and a little pace to peel away; a winger lives on dribbling, weak foot and skill moves to take players on. If you are a midfielder, passing rules, and good dribbling saves you in tight spaces. Every position rewrites the value of the eight attributes inside Copero.
Defenders and the goalkeeper demand a different read on the draft. A centre-back wants defending and physicality above all, with pace only to cover the space in behind; a modern full-back adds passing and physicality to run the whole flank. In Copero the rating is position-weighted, so stealing shooting as a centre-back barely lifts your score. Playing Copero well is about aligning each steal with whatever your position actually rewards.
The academy club and your first big transfer decision
After the draft, Copero lets you choose between three academy clubs for your debut. This is no small thing: league strength weighs on your whole career. A goal in a weak league counts for less, and the biggest trophies need strong squads. Picking the starting club is, within Copero, your first strategic bet on how hard you want it to be to shine.
Season after season, transfer offers start rolling in, and that is where Copero tests you again. Do you stay to become a small club's legend, or make the jump to a top league where every goal counts for more? A poorly judged transfer can strand you on the bench; a well-chosen one sends your rating soaring and opens the door to the Champions League. These choices are the long rhythm of playing Copero.
The seasons: goals, trophies, World Cups and your peak
With the club settled, Copero simulates your career year by year: matches, goals, assists, league finishes, domestic and continental cups, World Cups and international caps. You watch your rating climb to its peak, which lands somewhere around 26 to 32, before the natural decline sets in. Potential marks your ceiling; the Copero engine rewards consistency more than a single dazzling season.
From about 35, Copero hands you the most human decision of all: hang up your boots or play on despite the drop-off. Each extra season can add caps, goals and maybe one more title, but it also risks ending on a low. Reading your own form curve — when to push for one last World Cup and when to retire at the top — is the maturity that separates a good career from a true legend inside Copero.
The final verdict and your shareable card
When you decide to retire, Copero calculates a legacy score from everything you achieved: trophies, goals, World Cups, caps and the strength of the leagues you played in. Out of that comes a verdict that climbs up to the rarest title you ever won, and Copero condenses it into a final card ready to share with friends and compare careers.
The beauty is that no two runs repeat, because every draft and every steal reshape the whole journey. You can come back and play Copero choosing another position, stealing different attributes or gambling in Purist mode, and walk away with a completely new legend. That is the Copero loop: create, steal, decide and chase a verdict even better than your last.
